Frequently Asked Questions - Spaces

Yes! In accordance with Protect Purdue policy, masks must be worn in all Libraries spaces at all times. If you not wear a mask, you may be offered one or asked to leave the library until you are able to comply with the mask requirement.

Beginning August 17, 2020: Hicks Library, WALC, Parrish Library, and the Veterinary Medicine Library will be open for study, wifi, and computer use. In-person library services will be available in the Hicks Library only until further notice. However, assistance is available online and by phone.

Please note that not all services are available at all times. Some locations will open at a later date, when appropriate safety measures are in place.

Aviation Technology and Transportation Library, Mathematical Sciences Library, and the HSSE (Humanities, Social Science, and Education) Library will remain closed until they can be safely reopened.

Archives & Special Collections will operate on a "by appointment only" basis for the Fall 2020 semester. Please contact Archives & Special Collections at archives@purdue.edu for assistance.

 Please refer to the updated list of Libraries hours to see when your favorite library is open. 

Most study rooms formerly available for reservations are now open and available on a first come, first served basis. Maximum occupancy signs will be posted outside each room and doors must remain propped open at all times. Please remember to wipe down your study area when you arrive and before leaving. 

Yes! Beginning September 7, 2020, please visit the Digital Scholars Lab in WALC 3007 to check out A/V equipment- including cameras, tripods, hard drives, microcontrollers, Raspberry Pis, and 3D scanners.

ITaP-run black and white and color printers are available for on-demand printing are operational in the Wilmeth Active Learning Center (WALC), the Veterinary Medicine Library (LYNN), the HSSE Library, and Hicks Undergraduate Library (HIKS). 

Yes. Poster printing is available in Hicks Undergraduate Library (HIKS) and on the second floor of the Wilmeth Active Learning Center (WALC). 

No. Group study is prohibited in the libraries due to the difficulty in maintaining social distancing and non-disruptive volume. We recommend using a virtual meeting platform of your choice instead. 

3D Printers are available for student use in the Wilmeth Active Learning Center (WALC). 

Yes. You may still drink beverages in library spaces, as long as you are able to keep your mask on over your mouth and nose while you do so. We recommend that you use a cup or bottle with a long, reusable straw when drinking in the libraries.

No. Eating in all libraries spaces is prohibited at this time due to the necessity of removing one's mask to do so. Most libraries will have tables set up in nearby outdoor spaces where you safely take a break and snack before returning to the library.

All libraries will re-open for the Fall 2020 semester by Monday, August 24, 2020, with the exception of Archives and Special Collections, which will be open by appointment only. For the most up-to-date hours, please visit our Hours page
